November Update

November Meeting

Wednesday 12 November - 7.45 pm

St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle and the creation of the new Grotesques

This month our guest speaker is David Clare, a graphic designer, who has been doing work for the College of St George for the past ten years, and has produced the current exhibition on the new Grotesque sculptures.

St George's Chapel is the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter, the most senior and the oldest British Order of Chivalry. The Chapel is at the heart of the College of St George, inside Windsor Castle, and was founded together with the Order in 1348 by Kind Edward III.

This talk will introduce the Chapel; provide a brief history of its origins, architecture and Royal connections, and show images of some of the new Grotesque sculptures being created by Historic Carving students as part of the current restoration works.
