Limoncello/Arancello Workshop
21 November 2013 from 19:00

Please bring along ingredients for Step 1

Limoncello
Ingredients Step 1:  5 unwaxed lemons
1 ltre/70cl vodka (cheapest is ok)
Empty screwtop bottle same size as above .

Ingredients Step 2:          750 g caster sugar
(at home):                          700 ml boiling water

Step 1.  Remove zest from fruit, try not to include any white pith (affects taste). Share zest equally between two empty screwtop bottles or a v large jar.  Add half of the vodka to each bottle. Screw down lid and leave for a week, shaking the jar each day (more if you want to!).

Step 2.  Make syrup using sugar & boiling water, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Add it to the Stage 1 bottles and leave for a further week, shaking the jar regularly.

Step 3.  Strain and return to bottles, or decant into decorative bottles, adding a few strips of lemon zest to each bottle of limoncello.                          Recommended consumption around 1 month.

Arancello
The ingredients are as above, replacing the lemons with 5 large oranges.
Step 1:  Repeat as Limoncello, adding cinnamon stick, cardamom pods and/or vanilla stick/essence to the bottled zest.
Steps 2 and 3: As Limoncello       Will keep bottled for six months.

p.s. If you forget your spices, I have spare….and (currently) 4 empty bottles!
Best wishes,
Liz Alcock
