This month, the fabulous Suzy Pelta came to speak to us about her fantastic new baking business. Last year Suzy won an ITV baking competition on the Lorraine show, with her unique banana and peanut butter cake. Since then she has taken the baking world by storm, by producing a range of beautiful retro tins and tubs which contain all the ingredients and instructions to make wonderfully simple bakes at home.
Suzy told us how she wanted to provide kits for people who have never baked before, giving them unpretentious, but inventive recipes with unusual twists, such as her delicious chocolate scones, which one of our members baked for us to try on the evening.
Suzy explained the roller coaster ride she has been travelling since winning, and the difficulties of balancing this with a very full home life, looking after her three children. Despite this she has been the sole PR for her brand which is now stocked in a range of high end stores both here and internationally. She also runs a successful blog which features even more innovative recipes and is well worth a visit.
Suzy inspired our members to get baking and she encouraged us all to consider turning out favourite hobbies into a business as she has done so successfully. For more information on Suzy and her range of tins why not check out her Facebook page, Twitter feed, or Blog. You can also purchase her tins locally at The Cherry Tree in East Finchley, whilst also supporting a local business.
